HO-CHUNK, INC. HOSTS OFFICIALS FROM NASA’S GODDARD SPACE FLIGHT CENTER

Ho-Chunk, Inc., the economic development corporation owned by the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska, recently hosted two officials from NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center. The officials were given a tour of the corporations’ headquarters in Winnebago, Nebraska as well as its Bellevue, Nebraska office.  Verron Brade, Director, and Lori Moore, Business Management Specialist, from NASA arranged this visit to Ho-Chunk, Inc. to better understand how the corporation and its subsidiaries reinvest government contracting revenue into the Winnebago community. In particular, the officials sought to learn more about the Ho-Chunk, Inc. Summer College Internship Program.

NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center has a high regard toward education and provides a series of internship opportunities at its facilities throughout the United States. NASA internships work to prepare students for careers aligned with Goddard and its industry and university partners.

Similarly, Ho-Chunk, Inc.’s internship program provides hands on experience to students seeking a career aligned with Ho-Chunk, Inc. and its industry within a business environment. Developmental opportunities include meetings with managerial and corporate executives; various education workshops; subsidiary information exchanges; strategic planning sessions; networking events and various other relevant proceedings.

During the visit, Brade and Moore were given a tour of the Winnebago community which included Ho-Chunk, Inc. business operations; new housing development; Edu Care building; Little Priest Tribal College and the Ho-Chunk Village. The day also included presentations from John Blackhawk, Winnebago Tribal Chairman; Lance Morgan, President and CEO of Ho-Chunk, Inc.; Sharon Frenchman, CAO of Ho-Chunk, Inc. and Sarah Snake, Property Services Coordinator of Ho-Chunk Real Estate.

“We really appreciated the opportunity to share our story with Verron Brade and Lori Moore,” stated Morgan. “Not only did we get to share a little more about our mission and operations, but also had the chance to learn more about their facilities and educational programs.”

A Ho-Chunk, Inc. subsidiary was recently awarded the Office of Human Capital Management Professional Services contract for work to be performed at NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C. and at all NASA Goddard Space Flight Center facilities throughout the U.S.
